Benefits of Massage Therapy
A primary benefit of massage is its ability to relieve muscle aches and pains. Massage can also help relieve stress and headaches, as well as improving circulation, posture and helping with flexibility. Massage can also help if playing sport, alleviating muscle stress. If you have strains or sprains, we can help you using the different types of treatments we have available.
What To Expect at Newcastle Muscle Therapy
When you arrive, you will be asked to fill out a client form. We suggest allowing at least 5 minutes to do so. This form needs to be filled out to develop a treatment plan for you. It is also required for legal reasons, record keeping with the Health Funds, and in case we get audited. Once you are in the treatment room, the therapist will ask you about the information that you have provided so they can structure your massage appropriately.
During the massage you will be draped with towels and only the part that is being treated will be uncovered. If at any time you feel discomfort during the massage please let the therapist know straight away. We also advise that you let us know if the pressure is not firm enough or too soft. We work within your pain threshold. So please let us know.
Here at Newcastle Muscle Therapy our most popular treatment is Remedial Massage. This type of treatment has many techniques. During the treatment the therapist may use trigger point, firm deep pressure and stretching. It is normal to feel a bit tender and sore during the massage but not to the point that it is too firm and you can’t sustain the pressure. We recommend that you drink plenty of water after your treatment to keep you hydrated.
The benefits of having a massage while being pregnant include:
- Helping to relieve muscle aches and pains and cramping;
- Helping reduce stress that may come along with being pregnant;
- Helping to reduce stress on weight bearing joints such as hips.
Massage can also be useful when in labour, and also helps after the birth as well. Postpartum massage can help the new mother with relief of sore, tired muscles and help her to relax.
At Newcastle Muscle Therapy we treat a lot of sporting people ranging from soccer players, rugby league players, tennis players and runners. Corrine had looked after a NBN State League Soccer Club (South Cardiff), where players would come in for both massage treatments as well as sauna treatments, in order to help with any injuries they were suffering from.
